Dr. Pongpat Patthanavanich, Managing Director of MedPark Hospital, shared his vision on the topic "Thailand Medical and Wellness Tourism Competitiveness" at the ASEAN Economic Outlook 2025: The Rise of ASEAN, A Renewing Opportunity on October 7, 2024, at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok. He discussed the opportunities for Thailand in the wellness business, a rapidly growing global trend with a market value of around USD 5.6 trillion.
Dr. Pongpat noted that wellness tourism presents both challenges and opportunities for Thailand, with the potential to generate over THB 700 billion and contribute up to 5% economic growth if strongly supported by the government. The Asia-Pacific region ranks as the second-largest wellness tourism market globally, after North America. Thailand's wellness economy is valued at USD 34.6 billion, placing it 9th in the region. Toward the end of his talk, Dr. Pongpat also mentioned MedPark Hospital's upcoming wellness clinic at One Bangkok.
